Bitcoin is a new take on an old problem: “consensus”. This tech talk explores the inner workings of Bitcoin, and how it forces computers from all over the world to agree on a single value: your Bitcoin balance. In addition, we dive into the history of blockchain, from its roots in 1980s distributed systems research, to the seminal paper by Nakamoto in 2008. Come to this talk to understand the strengths of blockchain applications, their inherent weaknesses, and for a glimpse of future work.
